Middle Ear Analysis (Tympanometry): Evaluates ear function, including eardrum movement and ossicular chain integrity, useful in detecting fluid, infection, or abnormalities.

Special Hearing Tests:

  • SISI (Short Increment Sensitivity Index):   Assesses the ability to detect small changes in sound intensity.
  • TDT (Tone Decay Test):   Helps identify auditory nerve fatigue and cochlear vs retrocochlear lesions
  • ABLB (Alternate Binaural Loudness Balance Test):    Used to evaluate loudness perception between both ears, especially in cases of asymmetrical hearing loss.
  • TRT (Tinnitus Retraining Therapy):   A structured approach to manage and relieve tinnitus perception.

Neonatal Screening:

  • Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE):   A quick, reliable, and non-invasive screening tool for newborns to detect early hearing difficulties.
  • Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR):   Objective test that records brainstem activity in response to sound, useful for infants, young children, and difficult-to-test individuals.
  • Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR):   Provides detailed frequency-specific hearing information to guide pediatric hearing aid fiting.

Vestibular Function Tests:

  • ENG (Electronystagmography) and VNG (Videonystagmography):   Evaluate balance disorders through eye-movement recording.
  • VEMP (Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials):   Measures inner ear reflexes to sound for assessing vestibular pathway function.
  • ECochG (Electrocochleography):   Useful in diagnosing Ménière’s disease and auditory neuropathy.
