While every child has their own pace of growth and development but there may be some children who might lag behind their peers in plays, motor skills, communication, social skills etc. There are many possible causes for differences in a child’s development. These range from developmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral palsy, Developmental delay child, Attention deficit child, SLI, Mental Retardation child, HIE, Intellectual disabilities, Genetic disorders, Stuttering, Learning disabilities, Hearing or vision impairments, and the effects of medical illnesses or injuries.
Since there are so many different conditions that can lead to developmental delays, there isn’t one “right way” to prevent developmental delay. What’s important is to be aware of when a baby should be reaching developmental milestones. Early detection and intervention can prevent developmental delays. Sishu Vikas project aims to screen children between age group of 1.5 years to 4 years to examine their development and detect any such possibilities and help parents to intervene to fast track development.
Our target is to reach maximum number of pre-schools and kindergarten schools to scan maximum of children. Whereby, we will give a set of questionnaire to the parent of each child. Parents or guardians of each child need to understand the questions and answer them accordingly and carefully.
We will then collect those filled question sheets for scrutiny by our specialists. If we detect any such cases of delayed development, a detailed report will be given to the concerned parents or guardian, along with proper suggestions, guidance and counseling.
We would arrange an awareness camp for those identified children in their respective schools to make their parents more concerned about their conditions and show them the way to recover from it. We would deliver them the best therapy and treatment so that they can meet up the lag or delay in their development.
We see this as a longitudinal project (A longitudinal survey is a co-relational research study that involves repeated observations of the same variables over long periods of time), whereby we will keep track of those identified children of their development over the time. We are sure this would help many children to get into mainstream learning who otherwise would have undergone special learning methods.
