Bengal Rehabilitation and Research Pvt Ltd ("BRG", "we", "us", "our") runs the website bengalrehabilitationgroup.com, the free Online Hearing Test, the HEARING UPP application, and hearing and speech clinics across Kolkata and West Bengal.
This policy explains, in plain terms, what information we collect through our **digital services**, why we collect it, who else can see it, how long we keep it, and what you can tell us to do with it. We have written it to be read, not to be survived.
We are the Data Fiduciary for that information under the **Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023**. Some of what we hold is information about your health, which we treat as confidential and handle in line with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.

**Grievance Officer**

The Grievance Officer is the person to contact about anything in this policy, including a request to see, correct or delete your information, or a complaint about how it has been handled.
It covers our digital services: this website, the appointment and contact forms, the Online Hearing Test, and the HEARING UPP application.
**It does not cover your clinical records.** If you attend one of our clinics as a patient, the notes, test results and treatment records created there are medical records, kept and protected under the rules that apply to medical records and to the hospitals we operate within. Ask at your clinic for details of those.
Our website and the services it uses record technical information automatically: your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you visit, when you visited, and the website you arrived from. This is ordinary web traffic information — every website receives it — and we use it to keep the site working and to understand which pages are useful.
The appointment form at `book_appointment.php` asks for your **name, telephone number, email address, the hospital or clinic you want, the service you need, and your message**. We use it to arrange your appointment and to contact you about it.
The contact form asks for your **name, email address, telephone number, a subject and your message**. We use it to answer you.
Both forms are protected by **Google reCAPTCHA**, which checks that a person and not a machine is submitting the form. To do that, Google receives your IP address and information about your interaction with the page. Google's privacy policy and terms apply to that check.
The Online Hearing Test at `bengalrehabilitationgroup.com/online-hearing-test` is a free hearing **screening**. It is not a diagnosis, not a clinical audiometry test, and not a substitute for examination by a qualified audiologist using calibrated equipment.
**Taking the test does not require you to identify yourself.** You can take the whole test and see your complete result, including your audiogram and its explanation, without giving us your name or any other detail. The form that appears with your result is optional, and if you close it your result stays on screen and remains fully readable.
**Nothing you do during the test is sent to us.** The tones are generated inside your own web browser, and your answers to "did you hear that tone?" stay in your browser's memory. We receive nothing at all unless you choose to submit the form. If you leave without submitting it, no record of your visit or your result reaches us.
**The test does not listen to you.** It only plays sound. It does not use your microphone, does not ask for microphone permission, and does not record, transmit or store any audio from your device or your surroundings.

We do not ask for, and do not want, your address, identity documents, Aadhaar or any payment details. The test is free and no payment information is ever collected.
**About your IP address.** Every device on the internet has one, and a website necessarily receives it in order to send pages back to you. When you submit the test form we record yours and keep it with your submission. We use it for one purpose: to understand, at the level of a town or district, which areas people taking this test are in, so that we can plan where to run awareness camps and where clinics are most needed. An IP address is approximate and often unreliable — usually accurate only to the city or region, and sometimes wrong. The PIN code you type is far more precise, and it is the field we actually rely on. We do not use your IP address to identify you personally, to track you across other websites, or to build a profile of you.
**What happens to your submission.** It is recorded in a file on our web server that cannot be reached from the internet, and emailed to our clinical enquiries mailbox so that an audiologist can review it and follow up.
**We do not send your report to you automatically over WhatsApp.** The page has a "share on WhatsApp" button, but it simply opens WhatsApp on your own device with a message you can send to whoever you choose. You decide whether to send it and to whom. We receive nothing when you use it.
**Cookies on the test page.** The Online Hearing Test page sets **no cookies at all**. It uses no browser storage and loads no analytics, advertising or session-recording service. This is deliberate, because the page handles information about your health.

If you write to us about a vacancy, we hold your application and anything in it — typically your CV, contact details and work history — so that we can consider you, and so that we can contact you about that role or a later one.
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Our website uses the following. The Online Hearing Test page uses none of them.
**Measurement — Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC)**, which tells us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us:

**Behaviour recording — Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation)**, which shows us how people move, click and scroll so that we can find parts of the site that confuse people:
**Please note that Clarity records a playback of your visit**, including mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and typing on the pages where it runs. It does not run on the Online Hearing Test page.
**Turning them off.** You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's browser add-on at `tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout`, and you can opt out of Microsoft Clarity at `clarity.microsoft.com`. Blocking cookies does not remove information already collected — to have that deleted, contact our Grievance Officer.

**We do not make any decision about you by automated means**, and we do not build profiles of you for advertising.

Requesting any file from an outside server — a typeface or a code library — necessarily reveals your IP address and browser type to that server. Those two services receive nothing else about you, and nothing about your hearing result.
We may also disclose information if a law, a court or a government authority requires it, or to protect the safety of a person.
Google and Microsoft operate globally, so information handled by Google Analytics, Google reCAPTCHA, Gmail and Microsoft Clarity is processed on servers outside India. We share only what those services need in order to work. We do not transfer your information to any country that the Government of India has restricted under the DPDP Act.
If you ask us to delete something sooner, we delete it, unless a law requires us to keep it. When we no longer need information for the purpose it was given for, we erase it.
You may, at any time and free of charge, ask us to:

Anyone under 18 is a child under Indian law.
Our paediatric services exist precisely because hearing and speech difficulties in children are often found late, so a parent may well use our website, or the Online Hearing Test, on a child's behalf. **Where the person concerned is under 18, a parent or lawful guardian must complete the form and give consent for them.**
We do not knowingly accept a submission made by a child without a parent or guardian, we do not track children, and we do not direct advertising at them. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent or guardian, tell our Grievance Officer and we will delete it.
Our website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Hearing test submissions are written to a file that is configured so it cannot be downloaded from the internet. Access to our systems is limited to staff who need it, and our staff are bound to keep patient information confidential.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. **If a breach affects your information, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.**
If you give us your telephone number or email address, we may contact you about the appointment or enquiry you made, and — where you have taken the Online Hearing Test — once or twice about your result and about arranging a full assessment.
Every message we send tells you how to stop them, and you can ask us to stop at any time by contacting our Grievance Officer. We will still send you messages you need, such as a change to an appointment you have booked.
Our site links to other websites, and our blog may link to sources elsewhere. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them your information.
We update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top tells you when this version took effect, and the current version is always on this page. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you.
